Tom Hanks se queda fuera de la categoria de Mejor Actor, aun con sus dos papeles en

 Captain Phillips y Saving Mr. Banks. 

Nebraska de Alexander Payne da la sorpresa con nominaciones para Mejor Actor y Mejor Película y Mejor Actriz de Reparto Y Blackfish, uno de los mejores documenates del 2013 se queda fuera de la contienda para Mejor Documental, también tenemos a American Hustle y Gravity lideran las nominaciones,  con 10 nominaciones cada una.
